Believe it or not, a defining music moment for me that shaped my music taste forever was from seeing a cover band. I was about 12 or 13, and I was at a campground with my family when a Woodstock tribute band was playing at the pavilion nearby. I had grown up on classic rock, but more like the Guns N’ Roses kind. When I heard the covers of Jefferson Airplane, Canned Heat, and Janis Joplin, I was hooked. 

As for the actual performances, the sound quality was notoriously bad from the inclement weather, but historic performances of Joe Hill by Joan Baez, With a Little Help from My Friends by Joe Cocker, and of course Jimi Hendrix’s Star Spangled Banner were life-changing.
