How I Found This Album
I had always been a superfan of the Arctic Monkeys, but somehow had no idea that lead singer Alex Turner had worked on other projects besides that until about 2019. In December of 2020, my first boyfriend (of 2 months) cheated on me with a girl he had told me was his lesbian cousin. It really wasn’t much of a loss, but I took it pretty hard. When I was sad about it, I listened to The Time Has Come Again, and when I was angry about it, I listened to Black Plant. The Age of The Understatement made Little Regan feel much more mature and badass than she actually was, which helped me navigate the situation much quicker than I would have without it.
I’ve grown a lot since then, but I still go back to The Age of the Understatement as one of my favorite albums of all time. The dedication that the Last Shadow Puppets displayed to recreate that 60s James Bond sound is mesmerizing, and I would easily volunteer myself as being one of their biggest fans.
